What kind of photography do you offer?
I specialise in portrait photography of families, individuals, couples, children, and pets. I’d also love to help you if you’re considering some natural people photographs for your business.
How long will it take?
A typical photography shoot for a family of 2 adults and 2 children will last two hours.
Why don’t you shoot in a traditional studio?
On-location photo shoots are at the heart of my style. Whether in your own home and garden or a natural beauty spot, location shoots provide a wonderful backdrop to your photos. I also believe passionately that a shoot should be about having fun and capturing the true spirit and story of each and every client; this I believe is best done in more familiar surroundings.
What if I don’t want to use my own home?
Here on the Surrey-Hampshire-Sussex borders there are an abundance of gorgeous places to shoot. Do see my ‘picking a location

What if it rains?
This is my most asked question! Firstly, we live in the UK – it DOES rain (OFTEN!) Embracing the weather that nature throws at us creates some fantastic photography opportunities and family portraiture – that make each shoot unique and hard to recreate.
Don’t worry if the sky isn’t bright blue and it turns out to be overcast. I prefer those conditions: bright light can look harsh and make people squint, and it means that shadows (and wrinkles – sorry!) look deeper. I cancel if it is heavy rain and it looks set in for the day unless we can shoot indoors.
I do keep a very close watch on local forecasts (to the point of obsession!) and can usually tell 24 hours beforehand what will be happening. We can usually schedule the shoot around the weather at that point if it looks inclement.
Should I wait until summer?
Winter skies can produce amazingly clear light, which in turn makes for stunning family portraits. In the ‘off season’ beaches can be desolate and we can have entire parklands to ourselves at the right time of day. So don’t be put off booking your shoot during the winter months, it can look very dramatic!
Do you shoot all day?
Except for my mini shoots
, I do try to fix your session at the start of a day. Children are generally fresher then as is the air and therefore we have better light.
During the summer months I prefer to shoot first thing or from teatime onwards as the light is much more flattering.
Can I bring our dog(s)?
Absolutely! Bringing along the family dog(s) can be a real ice breaker and focus for the shoot.
What areas do you cover?
I am based on the Surrey – Hampshire – Sussex borders so cover most of these areas. Further afield is not a problem either and will just incur any travel/accommodation expenses necessary.
Do you charge for travel?
The first 40 miles from my studio are free; after that, I charge 50p per mile to cover my costs for mileage and time.
Will my images be mono or colour?
I shoot in colour, but produce a selection of both monochrome and colour imagery for your viewing. Again each client and location is different as is the feel of each shoot. Some shoots lend themselves to pure colour work others black and white.
How soon will I see my photos?
A few days after your photo shoot, you’ll be sent a link to an online private viewing gallery for a preview of your images. For mini shoots you will then be able to order your photos online over the course of a 7 day period.
Clients who have had a bespoke session are also invited to the studio for a viewing session on the big screen and to choose from a gorgeous selection of ways to display your photography.
Many clients can find it difficult to know which photographs to choose and how to showcase them, so it can be helpful to have my objective, professional guidance throughout this process and to see finished examples of how the images will look.
How much does a photo session cost?
Does the session fee include any photos?
The session fee includes a pre-shoot consultation either on the telephone or in the viewing studio and your own private Pinterest board for any ideas and clothing thoughts. The shoot itself, full post shoot edit, access to the online private gallery for 5 days and an in studio viewing and selecting session.

Mini sessions are more compact sessions and do come with some imagery packaged into them.
How much do people typically spend on products?
Everyone is different; some spend a little more, others a little less. My clients typically spend between £600 and £1800.
Is that expensive?
Having a private photo shoot with a portrait artist isn’t for everyone. As with anything in life, you can choose different levels of quality and service. My prices reflect the quality of both the art and service provided – and within that, my prices are very competitive.
What if I just want a few prints? Can I just purchase prints?
Because of the amount of time required per client (shoot day, editing and post production) is very high for a bespoke session, we would be running at a considerable loss if we offered unmounted prints in the first instance. However you’re very welcome to purchase these after you’ve made your choices from our main products.
If you are just looking to update your family photos for your existing frames at home then one of my mini shoot sessions would be the perfect choice.
How soon will my products be ready?
All of my products are bespoke which therefore takes time to produce. Please allow 3 weeks for wall art and 4-5 weeks for albums from selection.
Can I buy digital files to make my own prints?
Yes, full resolution digital files are available individually or as collections to purchase.
How do I pay for my order?
Payment for the session fee is due at the time of booking. A minimum of 50% payment is required for products at the time of ordering and final payment is due upon receipt of your finished goods.
Do you offer refunds if I change my mind?
No, this is because we cannot return your goods to the manufacturer since they are bespoke items. However, if any of our products arrive with a defect or fault we will of course arrange for this to be rectified.
Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Yes, and these are a wonderful present for people of any age to receive. Gift vouchers can be purchased either as a shoot, a collection or for a denomination fee of your choice.
Do you take pictures of business people?
We all know how important it is to convey the right message on a business website. Our profile picture will say so much about us. We want prospective clients to feel confident about getting in touch and engaging our services. Our business portraits are natural and relaxed, using a location suited to the mood you want to convey. We won’t be setting up any formal backgrounds or stiff poses. The price you pay depends on how many employees we’ll be photographing, and the different set ups that you require. Please get in touch
